47 assetsAbout exchange rates and currency pairs
Rates on this page are based on the latest observations published at the source, and every row shows its observation time. Turkish lira rates, major pairs and cross rates can be filtered as separate groups. The values are reference rates, not the buying or selling prices of banks, exchange bureaus or jewellers.
How to read an exchange rate
A currency pair shows the value of one unit of the first currency in terms of the second. USD/TRY tells you how many Turkish lira one US dollar is worth, while EUR/USD tells you how many dollars one euro is worth. That is why pairs are never converted into another currency; each rate is written in its own quote currency. For currencies with a low unit value, such as the Japanese yen, a rate may be quoted per hundred units, and the product name says so.
Reference rates, bank rates and central bank rates
There is no single dollar rate in the market. Banks and exchange bureaus set their own buying and selling prices, and the gap between the two is called the spread. The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye publishes indicative rates every business day. The values on Lzzo.com are reference rates published by a data provider. Before a cash or transfer transaction, check the current quote of the institution you will deal with.
Main factors that move rates
Rates move with the interest rate gap between two countries, inflation expectations, trade and current account balances, central bank decisions and shifts in global risk appetite. The global currency market trades around the clock on weekdays; at weekends no new quotes form, so the last observation is kept together with its time.
Converting an amount
To find what a specific amount is worth in another currency, use the currency converter. It converts between the US dollar, euro, Turkish lira, pound and Swiss franc with the same reference rates and also shows the inverse rate.
