Product information
What is Nasdaq 100 Index (Nasdaq 100)?
The Nasdaq-100 is an index made up of the shares of high-value companies listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market in the US, excluding the financial sector. First calculated in 1985, the index is managed by Nasdaq. It uses a modified company-value weighting method, which is intended to keep any single company from carrying excessive weight in the index.
Because its composition is concentrated in technology, communication services and consumer companies, the Nasdaq 100 is generally read as a gauge of growth stocks. Banks and other financial institutions are excluded by definition, a feature that sets it apart from broader US indices. Constituents undergo a comprehensive review every December.
Interest rate expectations, financial results from technology companies and global risk appetite play a decisive role in the index's path. The value shown on Lzzo.com is the index level in points and is based on Yahoo Finance data. Prices of funds or futures contracts that track the index may differ from this figure.
