What is US Dollar / Turkish Lira (USD/TRY)?
USD/TRY, also written as Dollar/TL, is the exchange rate showing how many Turkish lira one US dollar is worth. Because it influences foreign trade, energy imports, foreign-currency borrowing and savings decisions in Turkey, the dollar rate is closely watched both in the economy and in daily life. The Turkish lira is managed by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) and the dollar by the US Federal Reserve (Fed).
The CBRT's policy rate and monetary policy stance, the inflation gap between Turkey and the US, the current account balance, reserve developments and foreign capital flows are decisive for the path of USD/TRY. Fed decisions and the general strength of the dollar worldwide also affect the rate. Turkey officially operates a floating exchange rate regime; the rate is set in the market by supply and demand.
The USD/TRY value shown on Lzzo.com is a market reference rate sourced from Yahoo Finance, not a bank buy/sell price. The buy and sell prices of banks, exchange offices or the Grand Bazaar differ from this value; spreads, commissions and conditions at the moment of the transaction are reflected in the price. The indicative rates the CBRT announces every business day are also a separate data set.
