What is Euro / US Dollar (EUR/USD)?
The EUR/USD pair compares the euro, the common currency of the eurozone, with the US dollar and shows how many dollars one euro is worth. When the pair rises, the euro has gained against the dollar; when it falls, the dollar has strengthened. Heavily traded on the global foreign exchange market, the pair is also followed as a reference point for many other exchange rates. The euro came into use as book money in 1999; its banknotes and coins entered circulation in 2002.
The euro is managed by the Frankfurt-based European Central Bank (ECB) and the dollar by the US Federal Reserve (Fed). The gap between the two central banks' interest rate decisions and their guidance on future policy moves the pair by influencing which currency capital flows toward. Inflation and growth data, US employment reports, energy prices and global risk perception are also decisive factors.
In Turkey, the EUR/USD rate is also followed to understand the relationship between EUR/TRY and USD/TRY; the ratio of these two rates gives the pair approximately. The value on Lzzo.com is a market reference rate sourced from Yahoo Finance; it is not a bank or exchange office buy/sell price and does not include transaction costs.
