About stock prices

This page is a directory that brings stocks together by the exchange they trade on: the number of shares on Borsa Istanbul and on exchanges in the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific, links to the full lists and the shares that moved most in the last session. Every country and region has its own market page under world stock markets.

What drives a share price?

A share represents a stake in a company’s capital, and its price on the exchange is set by the orders of buyers and sellers. Reported financial results, the interest rate and currency environment, news from the sector and the general mood of the market all influence those orders. Shares of the same company listed on different exchanges can show different prices because of currency and trading-hour differences.

Currency and quotation

US shares trade in dollars, German and French shares in euros, British shares in pounds, Japanese shares in yen and Borsa Istanbul shares in Turkish lira. Lzzo.com shows each share in the currency of the exchange it trades on, at the source’s own price. When a company is listed on more than one exchange, each listing is priced separately; an American depositary receipt (ADR) traded in the US is not identical to the share price on the home exchange. A value in another currency can be chosen on the product page and is marked as approximate.

Trading hours and closing prices

Seen from Istanbul, Asian exchanges trade overnight and in the morning, European exchanges during the day, and US exchanges in the afternoon and evening. When an exchange is closed, the list shows the last session’s closing price and date, and the daily change should be read against that close. The trading hours page shows the regular session of each exchange.

Metrics that are not shown

Fundamentals such as market capitalisation, the price-to-earnings ratio or dividends appear only when they come from a verified source. A metric without a source is never filled in with an estimate. For this kind of information, the company’s investor relations page and the official announcements of the exchange where it is listed are the primary sources.
