Product information
What is South African Rand / Turkish Lira (ZAR/TRY)?
ZAR/TRY gives the Turkish lira value of South Africa's currency, the rand. The rand entered circulation in 1961 and takes its name from the Witwatersrand region, known for its gold deposits. The currency is managed by the South African Reserve Bank.
The rand is the anchor currency of the Common Monetary Area, which also includes Lesotho, Namibia and Eswatini; these countries' currencies are pegged to the rand at par. Because of South Africa's exports of gold, platinum group metals and coal, the rand is sensitive to commodity prices, and changes in risk appetite toward emerging markets also markedly affect it. Local issues such as electricity supply and public finances are watched as well.
The ZAR/TRY rate combines the rand's path against the dollar with the Turkish lira's general trend. The ZAR/TRY value shown on Lzzo.com is a cross calculation based on market exchange rates and is for information only; it is not a bank or exchange office price.
