What is British Pound / Swiss Franc (GBP/CHF)?
GBP/CHF is the cross rate showing how many Swiss francs one British pound is worth. The pound is managed by the Bank of England and the franc by the Swiss National Bank. The pair compares the currencies of two long-established European financial centers outside the eurozone.
The two currencies have different characters: the franc is known as a safe-haven currency sought in times of uncertainty, while the pound is more sensitive to UK growth, inflation and political developments. As a result, GBP/CHF can tend to fall when global risk perception deteriorates. The interest rate gap between the two central banks is also one of the pair's fundamental drivers; UK interest rates generally running above Swiss rates makes the pound stand out in carry trades.
The pair's volatility is also influenced by both currencies' moves against the dollar and the euro. Lzzo.com shows a cross reference rate for GBP/CHF calculated from market exchange rates; it is not a substitute for a bank or exchange office rate.
