What is Euro / British Pound (EUR/GBP)?
EUR/GBP shows how many British pounds one euro is worth. Because it compares the currencies of two neighboring economies with close trade ties, it is one of the heavily watched cross rates in Europe. The euro is managed by the European Central Bank and the pound by the Bank of England.
The United Kingdom left the European Union in 2020; the exit process and the trade arrangements that followed caused marked swings in EUR/GBP. Today the pair mainly reflects the gap between the two central banks' interest rate policies and the two regions' inflation and growth data. Energy prices are also an important variable for both the eurozone and the UK economy.
Because the two economies are exposed to similar global factors, EUR/GBP can move within a relatively narrow range compared with dollar pairs; even so, political developments and surprise data releases can trigger sharp moves. The EUR/GBP value shown on Lzzo.com is a cross reference rate calculated from market exchange rates, not a bank buy/sell price.
