What is New Zealand Dollar / US Dollar (NZD/USD)?
NZD/USD shows how many US dollars one New Zealand dollar is worth. The New Zealand dollar, known in the market as the 'Kiwi', is managed by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ). The currency is also used in some Pacific territories such as the Cook Islands.
The New Zealand economy relies on exports of dairy products, meat and other agricultural goods. Global dairy prices and demand from its main trading partners, China and Australia, can therefore affect the Kiwi. The RBNZ, one of the central banks that adopted inflation targeting early, is frequently cited as an example in the monetary policy literature.
Like the Australian dollar, the New Zealand dollar is sensitive to global risk appetite; the interest rate gap between the RBNZ and the Fed and US data move the pair. Lzzo.com shows a cross reference rate for NZD/USD calculated from market exchange rates; it is not a bank buy/sell price or a current interbank price.
