What is AEX Index Amsterdam (AEX)?

The AEX (Amsterdam Exchange Index) is an index made up of Dutch companies with high trading volumes listed on Euronext Amsterdam. Calculated by Euronext, the index has been published since 1983. Amsterdam is a financial center known for the historical origins of share trading.

Semiconductor equipment, consumer goods, energy, financial and technology companies stand out in the index. Because some constituents are multinationals earning international income, the AEX is more sensitive to global industrial and technology cycles than to the Dutch domestic economy. Weights are based on free-float shares, and a cap per company applies. The composition is updated through periodic reviews held several times a year.

Interest rate decisions in the eurozone and global chip demand are among the topics watched when following the index. On Lzzo.com, the AEX is shown in points using Yahoo Finance data; prices of index-based products are separate from this value.
