What is CSI 300 Index (000300.SS)?
The CSI 300 is an index made up of A-shares traded on mainland China's two stock exchanges, the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges. It is calculated by China Securities Index Co. and began publication in 2005. A-shares trade in yuan and for a long time were open mainly to domestic investors.
Because it combines liquid, high-value companies from both exchanges in a single gauge, the CSI 300 is a benchmark for anyone who wants to follow the general course of the Chinese stock market. Financial, consumer, industrial and technology companies hold a large place in its composition. Constituents are reviewed at regular intervals, and companies are weighted by their free-float shares.
Monetary policy at the People's Bank of China, growth data, developments in the property sector and regulatory decisions can influence the index's path. On Lzzo.com, the CSI 300 is shown in points using Yahoo Finance data; it should not be confused with indices that track Chinese companies listed in Hong Kong.
