What is Koc Holding (KCHOL)?
Koc Holding A.S., the parent company of the Koc Group, holds shares in companies across many sectors, chiefly energy, automotive, consumer durables and finance. The Istanbul-based holding's shares trade on Borsa Istanbul under the ticker KCHOL. Through a single stock, KCHOL offers indirect ownership of a basket of companies spread across different branches of the Turkish economy.
The group's energy arm includes refinery operator Tupras and LPG distributor Aygaz. In automotive, Ford Otosan, Tofas, Otokar and Turk Traktor stand out, while Arcelik is the key name in consumer durables. On the finance side the group includes Yapi Kredi Bankasi, and group companies also operate in tourism, food, retail and information technology. The holding is responsible for the strategy, capital allocation and portfolio management of this structure.
With holding company shares, investors closely watch the gap between the combined value of the subsidiaries and the holding's own valuation on the exchange, known as the discount to net asset value (NAV). Refinery margins, domestic demand and car sales, exports to Europe, exchange-rate movements and the interest-rate environment in banking each affect consolidated results in different ways. The Lzzo.com page for KCHOL combines a long-term price chart with technical indicators.
