BIST Madencilik Endeksi

The BIST Mining index is a sector gauge calculated under the code XMADN that covers Borsa Istanbul companies generating income from mining. Operators of gold and other metal mines, producers of industrial minerals and companies quarrying natural stone may fall within its scope; the constituent list is determined by Borsa Istanbul's sector classification.

According to Borsa Istanbul's index card, XMADN is a capitalization-weighted price index with no weight cap. Its value is calculated in Turkish lira and announced in points, and companies with a high free-float value have a greater influence on the index level.

Those following mining shares count commodity prices such as gold per ounce and copper, exchange rates, licensing and environmental permit processes, reserve reports and energy costs among their assessment criteria.
