BIST Kimya Petrol Plastik

The BIST Chemicals, Petroleum and Plastics index, code XKMYA, is a sector gauge covering Borsa Istanbul-listed companies whose production relies on chemical processing. Refineries that process crude oil, petrochemical and polyester producers, fertilizer plants, paint and coatings companies, and manufacturers of plastic and rubber products all fall within this group. The index is one of the sub-segments of the Industrial main sector.

It is calculated as a capitalization-weighted price index; its value is computed in Turkish lira and announced in points. Since the size of free-float shares determines the weights, moves in large refining and petrochemical companies can leave a noticeable mark on the index level.
