Afyon Cement

Afyon Cimento Sanayi T.A.S. is a company producing cement and clinker in Afyonkarahisar. The plant began production in 1957 with a wet-process kiln and grew in later years through kiln conversions and a second kiln. Cimsa bought the majority stake from the Italcementi group in 2012, and the company has operated as a Cimsa affiliate since then. AFYON shares trade on Borsa Istanbul.

In 2014 the company decided to rebuild the plant with modern technology; operations moved in 2017 to the new facility built in the village of Halimoru in Afyonkarahisar, and the old factory was closed. Today its products are marketed as Cimsa-branded cements such as Cimsa Master Power, Cimsa Izo Power, Cimsa Resistant LA and Cimsa Rapid. The company places products that support a low-carbon economy at the centre of its sustainability approach.

For cement producers, the main issues investors watch are regional construction demand, energy and fuel costs, carbon regulations, transport expenses and capacity utilisation. Because of the product and marketing link with the parent company, group strategy also features in the assessment of AFYON shares.
