What is RTX Corporation (RTX)?
RTX Corporation is a US aerospace and defense company based in Arlington, Virginia. It was formed in 2020 through the merger of Raytheon Company with the aerospace businesses of United Technologies, and in 2023 it changed its name from Raytheon Technologies to RTX. Its shares trade on the NYSE under the ticker RTX.
The group consists of three main businesses. Collins Aerospace produces avionics, landing gear, cabin interiors, and electrical and environmental control systems for aircraft. Pratt & Whitney develops jet engines for commercial and military aircraft; the GTF engine family, used on narrow-body aircraft, is an important product of this unit. Raytheon offers defense products such as the Patriot air defense system, various missiles, radars and sensors.
For RTX stock, aftermarket parts and maintenance demand in commercial aviation, the cost of inspections linked to the powder metal issue in GTF engines and the time aircraft spend on the ground, defense budgets and international orders for air defense systems are watched.
