What is GE Aerospace (GE)?
GE Aerospace is a US aircraft engine and aerospace systems company based in Evendale, near Cincinnati, Ohio. The company took its current name after General Electric separated its healthcare business in 2023 and its energy business, as GE Vernova, in 2024. Its shares trade on the NYSE under the ticker GE.
The commercial engines and services unit produces engines for narrow-body and wide-body passenger aircraft; the LEAP engines of CFM International, the joint venture formed with Safran, and the GEnx engines are the main products in this area. A significant part of its income comes from maintenance, repair and spare parts services for the engines operated by airlines. The defense and propulsion technologies unit develops engines for fighter jets and helicopters as well as various aerospace systems.
