What is Allegion plc (ALLE)?
Allegion plc is a security products company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, although most of its operations are carried out in the United States. It became an independent publicly listed company in 2013 when it separated from Ingersoll Rand. Its shares trade on the NYSE under the ticker ALLE and are included in S&P's broad-based US stock index.
Allegion makes products related to door and building access. Its products include mechanical and electronic locks, door closers, exit devices such as panic bars, door and frame hardware, and access control systems. With brands such as Schlage, Von Duprin and LCN, it serves homes, commercial buildings, schools, hospitals and public institutions. Operations are tracked in two regional segments, Americas and International. The products are used both in new building projects and in the renovation of existing buildings.
