What is Verge (XVG)?
Verge is a cryptocurrency launched in 2014 under the name DogeCoinDark and renamed Verge in 2016. The project is known for integrating anonymity networks such as Tor into wallet communication to help hide users' IP addresses. It is maintained by open-source developers and the community rather than by a central company.
Verge runs on a Proof of Work mechanism and supports multiple mining algorithms on the same network; this structure aims to make it easier for miners with different hardware to take part. In 2018 the network drew attention because of attacks targeting weaknesses in its mining system, after which updates were made. XVG is the network's native payment unit and is transacted on its own blockchain. Various features aimed at fast payments and greater transaction privacy have also been developed on the network. Unlike some competitors that make privacy mandatory by default, the project focuses on network-level anonymity.
On Lzzo.com, the Verge price is a reference shown by converting the Binance XVG/USDT pair to US dollars using Coinbase's USDT/USD observation; it is for information only.
