What is Dash?
Dash is a cryptocurrency with its own blockchain, focused on fast, low-cost payments. Originally named XCoin and then Darkcoin, the project took the name Dash in 2015. DASH is the network's own coin and is produced through proof-of-work mining; it is not a token issued on another chain.
Alongside miners, the network has a second tier of masternodes, which bond a set amount of DASH as collateral. Masternodes make it possible to lock transactions within seconds, to protect the chain against reorganization attacks with ChainLocks and to offer optional CoinJoin mixing. The block reward is shared among miners, masternodes and a treasury that funds projects through masternode voting. For this reason, Dash is known as one of the early projects to implement on-chain budget governance.
Factors that can affect the DASH price include the trend in payment use, exchange and regulatory decisions concerning privacy-focused coins, mining and masternode economics and general market conditions. The Dash price shown on Lzzo.com is based on the DASH/USDT pair on Binance; the USDT value is converted into US dollars at the Coinbase Exchange rate, and the chart follows this series.
