What is USAT?
USAT is a US dollar-pegged stablecoin developed for the US market by Tether, the issuer of USDT. According to its official website, the issuer of the token is the federally regulated Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A.; the site is published by Tether Operations and states clearly that Tether itself is not the issuer. The CoinGecko description also states that the product is designed to operate within the federal stablecoin framework created in the US by the GENIUS Act.
The site states that each USAT can be redeemed for one US dollar and that the token is fully backed by liquid reserves. Separate from USDT, which is aimed at international use, USAT aims to offer a regulated dollar token to institutional and retail users in the US. A legal notice on the site stresses that USAT is not legal tender, is not issued or backed by the US government and is not covered by deposit insurance.
According to its CoinGecko listing, USAT has contracts on the Ethereum and Celo networks and trades on exchanges such as OKX, Bybit and Bitget. For fiat-backed stablecoins, the dollar peg depends on the quality of the reserves and the redemption capacity of the issuer. The USAT value on Lzzo.com is based on DefiLlama's US dollar reference and is for information only; the smart contract platform label in the catalogue does not reflect the function of the product.
