What is Stellar Lumens (XLM)?
Stellar is an open-source blockchain network launched in 2014 that focuses on payments and digital asset issuance. The network's development is supported by the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation (SDF). Instead of mining, Stellar uses a federated consensus model called the Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP), in which each node chooses the groups of nodes it trusts. Because the network has a built-in order book and path payments, an amount sent in one currency can reach the recipient as a different asset.
The lumen, or XLM for short, is the network's native asset. Transaction fees are paid in small amounts of XLM, and each account needs to hold a minimum XLM balance to stay open. These rules are intended to make it harder to flood the network with unwanted transactions. On Stellar, banks and financial companies can issue assets such as stablecoins and tokenized funds, while the smart contract platform Soroban has added programmability to the network.
On Lzzo.com, the Stellar Lumens price is formed by converting the XLM/USDT pair on Binance into US dollars using Coinbase Exchange's USDT/USD rate and is for information only.
