What is XRP?
XRP is the native asset of the XRP Ledger, an open-source blockchain that began operating in 2012. Instead of mining, the XRP Ledger uses a consensus protocol in which validators reach agreement through lists of nodes they trust; transactions are designed to settle within a few seconds. The ledger has built-in features such as a decentralized exchange, escrow transactions, token issuance and automated market maker pools.
The small XRP fee paid on each transaction is burned and removed from circulation, and a certain amount of XRP needs to be held as a reserve to open an account. The XRP Ledger and the US-based company Ripple are different things: Ripple is a company that contributes to the ledger's development and uses XRP as a bridge asset in cross-border payment solutions; the company also issues the RLUSD stablecoin on the same ledger. Although XRP is popularly called Ripple, the network runs with validators that are independent of the company.
The XRP price on Lzzo.com is calculated by converting the Binance XRP/USDT pair into US dollars using Coinbase Exchange's USDT/USD rate and is for information only.
