What is SoFiUSD (SOFID)?
SoFiUSD is a stablecoin designed to track the value of the US dollar, issued by SoFi Bank, the banking subsidiary of US-based financial services company SoFi Technologies. In its December 2025 announcement, the company described the product as the first stablecoin issued by a nationally chartered US bank on a public, permissionless blockchain. SoFi Bank is a deposit-taking institution supervised by the OCC; the deposit insurance status of stablecoin balances needs to be checked separately in the issuer's documents.
According to the company, SoFiUSD is fully backed by cash reserves held to meet redemption requests; DefiLlama also classifies the token as a fiat-backed stablecoin. The token was first deployed on Ethereum and then expanded to Solana; DefiLlama also tracks it on Polygon, Monad and Tempo. Since May 2026, SoFi members have been able to buy, sell and convert the token directly within the SoFi app. The product is also positioned as a settlement infrastructure for banks and fintech companies that operates on weekends as well.
The dollar peg is a design goal. On Lzzo.com, the SoFiUSD price is shown using a US dollar reference taken from DefiLlama and is intended for information.
