What is Snek?
Snek is a snake-themed meme token issued on the Cardano network. The token was launched in 2023 and became one of the community-driven projects in the Cardano ecosystem. On Cardano, tokens are created not through a separate smart contract, as on Ethereum, but through the ledger's native asset structure; following this model, SNEK is transferred using the same ledger logic as ADA.
SNEK is a meme token: it gives its holder no claim on any company's income, cash flows or assets, and its value depends largely on community interest and general market conditions. The token trades on decentralized exchanges on Cardano and on some centralized platforms. CoinGecko's listing names Cardano as the token's only network; tokens with the same name on other networks may not be related to this project.
