What is Shiba Inu (SHIB)?
Shiba Inu is a meme token named after the Japanese dog breed and launched on Ethereum in 2020 by a pseudonymous developer. SHIB was distributed as an asset following the Ethereum token standard and was initially described as a community experiment. Over time the project has grown into a structure that includes its own decentralized exchange, ShibaSwap; the ecosystem tokens BONE and LEASH; and Shibarium, a layer-two network connected to Ethereum that uses BONE for transaction fees.
SHIB's essential nature is that of a meme token: it gives its holder no claim on any company's income, cash flows or assets. Price movements are shaped largely by community interest and general crypto market conditions. Although practices such as token burns come up in the ecosystem from time to time, they do not change the nature of the token. Anyone researching Shiba Inu coin also needs to bear in mind that the tokens in the ecosystem have different functions.
On Lzzo.com, the SHIB price is shown by converting Binance SHIB/USDT data into US dollars using Coinbase's USDT/USD rate; it is a reference value.
