What is Quantum Resistant Ledger (QRL)?
Quantum Resistant Ledger, or QRL for short, is an independent blockchain designed against the possibility that sufficiently powerful quantum computers could one day break the elliptic curve signatures widely used today. Its mainnet began operating in 2018. The network uses XMSS (eXtended Merkle Signature Scheme), a scheme based on hash functions, for address and transaction signatures; this scheme is among the methods defined by international standards bodies for post-quantum security.
QRL coin is the network's native asset; it is used to pay transaction fees and to reward those who take part in block production. The current network runs on proof of work. The project team has announced that it is working on a next-generation version called Zond, which aims for a transition to proof of stake and compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine; the timing and scope of this transition should be followed through official channels. The CoinGecko listing shows no contract address for QRL on another network.
Lzzo.com uses DefiLlama's US dollar reference price for QRL. Quantum resistance is a design goal; the price data on this page is provided for information only.
