What is Pi Network (PI)?
Pi Network is a blockchain project released as a mobile app in March 2019, through which users can accumulate PI by regularly logging in from their phones. Although this process in the app is called mining, no intensive computation takes place on the device; distribution relies on user engagement and social verification rules such as the security circle.
The network's consensus mechanism is adapted from the Stellar Consensus Protocol. The project spent a long period in a closed mainnet phase, and users were required to complete identity verification (KYC) to move their balances to the mainnet. The transition to an open mainnet took place in February 2025, and from then on PI became connected to external networks and exchanges. Applications accessed through Pi Browser and payment use cases are being developed in the ecosystem.
PI is the native coin of its own mainnet; there is no official token version on other blockchains. The Pi Network price shown on Lzzo.com is taken from DefiLlama's US dollar reference data and is for information.
