Product information
What is DigiByte (DGB)?
DigiByte is an open-source blockchain with a Bitcoin-like UTXO structure that aims for fast, low-cost transfers. DGB is the network's own coin; it is not issued by a company but produced through mining. The project is among the older-generation cryptocurrencies, having launched its mainnet in 2014.
DigiByte's distinguishing feature is that blocks can be produced with several different mining algorithms. This approach aims to reduce dependence on a single type of hardware and to broaden the distribution of mining power. The network uses the DigiShield mechanism, which adjusts the difficulty level at frequent intervals, and has shorter block times than Bitcoin. DGB is used for transaction fees and value transfer, while a layer called DigiAssets allows digital assets to be issued on the network.
Exchange liquidity, the pace of community development, mining economics and the general direction of the market may influence the DGB price; because the project is maintained by a foundation and volunteer developers, ecosystem activity can vary from period to period. The Lzzo.com page is based on DGB's USDT pair on Binance; the price is converted into dollars at Coinbase Exchange's USDT/USD rate and the chart shows this series.
