What is AUSD?
AUSD (Agora Dollar) is a stablecoin issued by the company Agora and designed to stay pegged one-to-one to the US dollar. Although the catalogue tags it as a smart contract platform, AUSD is not a blockchain; it is a token issued on various networks, chiefly Ethereum, as well as Sui, Mantle, Polygon, Injective and Monad.
In Agora's model, every AUSD in circulation is backed by reserves made up of cash, short-term US Treasury bills and overnight repurchase agreements. According to the project, custody of the reserves is entrusted to a large custodian bank and their management to a professional fund manager, and the structure is open to review by independent audit firms. Minting and redemption for dollars run through institutional clients that work directly with the issuer; other users acquire AUSD on exchanges and in decentralized applications. It can serve as a quote currency in trading, as collateral in lending protocols and as a transfer instrument in payments.
Whether a fiat-backed stablecoin holds its dollar level depends on the quality and transparency of its reserves, smooth redemption, the operational risks of the issuer and custodians, and stablecoin regulation; brief deviations can occur during market stress. The AUSD page on Lzzo.com shows DefiLlama's dollar-denominated reference price and a chart built from the history of that data.
