What is Valero Energy Corporation (VLO)?
Valero Energy Corporation is a refining and fuel production company headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. Founded in 1980, its shares trade on the NYSE under the ticker VLO, and the company is included in the S&P 500.
Operations fall into three main segments. The refining segment converts crude oil into products such as gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and petrochemical feedstocks; its plants are mostly on the US Gulf Coast, with further refineries in Canada and the United Kingdom. The renewable diesel segment makes fuel from vegetable oils and waste fats through a joint venture. The ethanol segment covers plants that produce ethanol from corn.
The results of refiners vary with crude oil prices, product demand and plant operating conditions, so they are usually followed together with energy market data. On the VLO page at Lzzo.com, the share price is shown in US dollars, the currency it trades in, alongside a historical price chart and technical indicators.
