What is The Mosaic Company (MOS)?
The Mosaic Company is a fertilizer and crop nutrient company headquartered in Tampa, Florida. The company was formed in 2004 through the combination of IMC Global and Cargill's fertilizer business. Its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker MOS, and it is a member of the S&P 500 index. Production rests on two basic nutrients used in plant feeding.
The phosphates division processes rock mined in Florida into phosphate fertilizers and animal feed additives. The potash division mines potash in Saskatchewan, Canada, and brings it to farmers. The third division, Mosaic Fertilizantes, covers production, distribution and sales activities in Brazil, which is an important fertilizer market in world agriculture. Products reach farmers through distributors and farm supply retailers, and export sales are also part of income. Running mines and processing plants also requires compliance with environmental rules.
When following Mosaic stock, crop prices, planting season demand, raw material costs such as energy and sulfur, export policies and environmental regulation are taken into account. On the MOS page at Lzzo.com the price is shown in US dollars, and a price chart and technical indicators appear on the same page.
