What is Genuine Parts Company (GPC)?
Genuine Parts Company is a US spare parts distribution company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and founded in 1928. Its shares trade on the NYSE under the ticker GPC and are included in S&P's broad-based US stock index. Rather than manufacturing parts in its own name, the company distributes the products of many suppliers to businesses and repair shops.
Genuine Parts works in two main segments. The Automotive segment manages the store and distribution network under the NAPA Auto Parts brand in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia and New Zealand, supplying spare parts to vehicle repair shops and individual customers. The Industrial segment, under the Motion brand, supplies bearings, power transmission parts, hydraulic systems and other industrial components to factories and maintenance teams. In both areas, the breadth of the distribution network and fast delivery are important competitive factors.
Those following Genuine Parts stock usually watch the age of the vehicle fleet, the trend in industrial production and repair demand. On the GPC page at Lzzo.com the share price is shown in US dollars, and the page also includes a price chart and technical indicators.
