What is Albemarle Corporation (ALB)?
Albemarle Corporation is a specialty chemicals company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was formed in 1994 when it separated from Ethyl Corporation. Its shares trade on the NYSE under the ticker ALB and the company is among the components of the S&P 500.
Albemarle works in two main business lines. The Energy Storage segment produces lithium compounds, which are used in electric vehicle batteries and energy storage systems; the lithium comes from brine fields in Chile, a brine site in the United States and mining partnerships in Australia. The Specialties segment makes bromine-based and other specialty chemicals used in areas such as electronics, fire safety and water treatment. In March 2026 the company sold its controlling stake in its Ketjen-branded refinery catalyst business to KPS Capital Partners and kept a minority stake.
Lithium prices, electric vehicle demand and supply capacity are among the main subjects that affect the company's results, so it is followed together with developments in the lithium market. On the ALB page at Lzzo.com, the share price is shown in US dollars, the currency it trades in, alongside a historical price chart and technical indicators.
