State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF

XLP, aimed at the consumer staples sector, has been known as State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF since its name change in December 2025. Formerly named Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund, the fund trades on NYSE Arca and is managed by State Street.

Before expenses, the fund aims to correspond generally to the price and yield performance of the Consumer Staples Select Sector Index. The index represents the consumer staples portion of S&P's large-company US index and includes companies in the following areas: grocery and hypermarket chains and wholesale distributors, cleaning and household products, food products, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, tobacco and personal care products. These are everyday necessities that consumers keep buying even when economic conditions change; for this reason, the sector is described as defensive.

Those following XLP track food and packaging costs, consumer reaction to price increases by large brands, competition from private-label products, the possible effect of incretin-based (GLP class) weight-loss drugs on food consumption and the interest rate environment. The fund's price may show small deviations from net asset value (NAV).
