What is Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI)?
The Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF is an exchange-traded fund offered by Vanguard that aims to track the CRSP US Total Market Index. It trades on NYSE Arca under the ticker VTI.
The tracked index covers large, mid, small and micro-cap companies listed in the US together, so a single fund provides a portfolio spread across almost the entire US stock market. Because companies are weighted by the size of their publicly available shares, large technology companies still account for a notable share; however, the inclusion of smaller companies sets the fund apart from index funds that hold only large companies. VTI is the exchange-traded share class of Vanguard's index fund of the same name.
VTI's market price is set during the day by buy and sell orders and may differ briefly from the fund's net asset value (NAV). The Lzzo.com page for VTI offers the price in US dollars, a historical price chart and technical indicators; for the fund's expense ratio and current composition, Vanguard's product page can be consulted.
