What is iShares MSCI Turkey ETF (TUR)?

The iShares MSCI Turkey ETF is a country fund offered under BlackRock's iShares brand that invests in Turkish stocks. According to the issuer, the fund tracks an index made up of Turkish stocks, the investable market index that MSCI calculates for Turkey and that caps single-company weights (MSCI Turkey IMI). Its shares trade in the US on Nasdaq under the ticker TUR.

The index covers large, mid and small-cap companies listed on Borsa Istanbul. The basket includes companies from different parts of the Turkish economy, such as banks and holding companies, airline and defense companies, retail chains, iron and steel and automotive manufacturers, and telecom and energy companies. Thanks to the weight cap, the influence of any single company on the fund is kept in check. The fund gives US and international investors access to Turkish stocks through a single instrument denominated in dollars and traded during US hours.

TUR's dollar-based return is the combination of two factors: stock performance on Borsa Istanbul and the movement of the Turkish lira against the dollar. For this reason, the interest rate decisions of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, inflation data, the current account balance and foreign investor flows are closely watched. While the Istanbul session is closed, a gap can form between the fund's price and its net asset value (NAV). The TUR page on Lzzo.com offers the US dollar price, conversion into Turkish lira, euros and pounds sterling, a historical chart, technical indicators, the data source and the update time.
