State Street SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust

The SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust, DIA for short, is an exchange-traded fund that tracks the Dow Jones Industrial Average, one of the long-established US stock indices. Offered by State Street, the fund's current name is State Street SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust, and it trades on NYSE Arca.

The fund's objective is to provide results that, before expenses, generally correspond to the price and yield performance of the index. The index consists of 30 large US companies selected from different sectors. Unlike most indices, companies are weighted not by their size but by their share prices; as a result, a stock with a high price can have more influence than a larger company. DIA is not an open-end fund but is structured as a unit investment trust: the portfolio is held so as to mirror the index exactly, and dividends from the stocks are distributed monthly.
