Product information
What is yearn.finance (YFI)?
yearn.finance is a yield aggregator protocol that automatically routes the crypto assets users deposit to yield sources in lending protocols, liquidity pools and other decentralized finance applications. Users deposit their assets into smart contracts called vaults; strategies aim to generate yield by managing the assets across different protocols.
YFI is known for having been launched in July 2020 through distribution to protocol users, without a presale or a team allocation; its capped total supply is another notable feature. Token holders take part in governance decisions on protocol parameters, fees and new strategies. Yearn runs mainly on Ethereum; YFI also exists in bridged versions on many networks.
With yield aggregators, smart contract risk, the risks of integrated protocols and changes in strategy performance are factors to consider. On Lzzo.com, the yearn.finance price is shown by converting the Binance YFI/USDT pair to US dollars using Coinbase's USDT/USD observation.
