Lido EarnUSD is a vault share token offered by Lido on Ethereum that provides automated access to dollar-denominated decentralized finance strategies. Users deposit USDC or USDT into the vault and receive EARNUSD, representing their share of the vault's assets, in return. Although it is classified as a stablecoin in the catalogue, EARNUSD is not a classic stablecoin carrying a fixed redemption promise but a share token whose value changes with strategy returns.

The vault's strategies are managed as curator by Mellow Finance, which works in the yield vault space; additional curators are also expected to be added in future. Capital is deployed mainly into conservative decentralized lending markets and selected other strategies; products based on real-world assets are among the instruments that may also be used. Rewards are automatically reinvested. Withdrawal requests are not fulfilled immediately but after a waiting period that, depending on how the vault operates, can stretch to several days.

The value of EARNUSD depends on the returns of the protocols used and on events that may occur in them: bad debt in lending markets, the curator's strategy choices, smart contract vulnerabilities and congestion in the withdrawal queue are risks to watch.
