What is Tezos (XTZ)?
Tezos is a blockchain designed to be self-amending, with its mainnet launched in 2018. Protocol changes go through an on-chain voting process made up of stages such as proposal, exploration and adoption, and once approved they are applied without the need for a hard fork of the network. Each upgrade is named after a city. Smart contracts are written in Michelson, a language suited to formal verification; the ecosystem also includes an EVM-compatible smart rollup called Etherlink.
XTZ is the network's native token. Block production on Tezos is called baking; XTZ holders can become bakers directly or delegate their tokens to a baker without locking them and earn rewards. Recent upgrades have also added a staking option that, unlike delegated tokens, is exposed to slashing. Transaction fees and governance votes also run on XTZ.
The Tezos price on Lzzo.com is taken from Binance XTZ/USDT trades and converted to US dollars using the Coinbase Exchange USDT/USD rate; it is for information only.
