What is TRON (TRX)?
TRON is a layer-one blockchain that emerged in 2017, with its mainnet launched in 2018. The network uses a virtual machine (TVM) that is largely compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine and supports smart contracts. Development of the ecosystem is now carried out under the TRON DAO umbrella; the file-sharing protocol BitTorrent has also been connected to the TRON ecosystem since 2018.
The network runs on a delegated proof-of-stake (DPoS) mechanism in which 'super representatives' elected by the votes of token holders produce blocks. TRX is the network's native token: it is locked to obtain voting rights and transaction resources (bandwidth and energy) or used to pay transaction fees directly. Because of its low-cost transfers, TRON has become one of the networks used heavily for the circulation of US dollar stablecoins in particular.
The value of TRX is affected by network usage, stablecoin flows and general crypto market conditions. On Lzzo.com, the TRON price is shown by converting the Binance TRX/USDT pair into dollars using the Coinbase Exchange USDT/USD rate; it is a reference for information only.
