What is EUR CoinVertible (EURCV)?
EUR CoinVertible is a stablecoin designed to track the value of the euro, issued by SG-FORGE, the digital asset subsidiary of the French banking group Société Générale. The token was first issued on Ethereum in April 2023. SG-FORGE obtained an electronic money institution license from the French banking supervisor ACPR and restructured EURCV as an e-money token (EMT) under the European Union's MiCA regulation.
According to SG-FORGE, the reserves are held in segregated accounts at Société Générale. With the move to a MiCA-compliant structure, the token became freely transferable without a whitelist restriction. EURCV is available on Ethereum, Solana, Stellar and the XRP Ledger. It is used mainly for institutional payments, settlement of tokenized assets and on regulated platforms. The euro peg is a design goal, and redemption rights depend on the issuer's terms.
Although the catalogue shows this asset in a general smart contract category, EURCV is a euro stablecoin. Because Lzzo.com uses DefiLlama's reference price in US dollars, the value on screen changes with the euro/dollar exchange rate; this movement is a currency effect, not a loss or gain in value.
