What is ORE?
ORE is a token on the Solana blockchain that describes itself as a store of value native to Solana. The project started out on fair launch principles: instead of a presale or a reserved team allocation, tokens are distributed to users who take part in the network's mining mechanism.
First released in 2024, ORE used a model in which miners earned tokens by performing proof-of-work-like computations on Solana; during this period, the impact of heavy mining activity on network traffic also drew attention. The protocol changed its mining rules in later versions, and DefiLlama tracks the current design in its gamified mining category. Details of the mechanism are published on the official website.
