What is NEO?
Neo is an open-source blockchain for smart contract and digital asset applications that started in 2014 under the name Antshares and took its current name in 2017. The network uses a consensus mechanism called delegated Byzantine Fault Tolerance (dBFT): elected consensus nodes approve blocks, and once a block is added to the chain, the transactions in it become irreversible.
One of the features that sets Neo apart is its dual-token model. NEO is the indivisible governance token; holders vote for council members and can receive GAS rewards in return. GAS is the fuel token used to pay transaction fees and the cost of running smart contracts. The ecosystem also includes NeoFS for decentralized storage and Neo X, a sidechain compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine.
The project is maintained by the Neo Foundation and community developers. The NEO price on Lzzo.com is based on the Binance NEO/USDT pair; the value is converted to US dollars using Coinbase Exchange's USDT/USD rate, and the page is for information only.
