What is Lisk (LSK)?
Lisk set out in 2016 as an independent blockchain aiming to make application development in JavaScript easier. In 2024 the project left its own base-layer network and became an Ethereum layer-two network using Optimism's OP Stack. With this transition, LSK moved to a token under Ethereum's token standard and became bridgeable to the Lisk network.
As a layer-two network, Lisk is part of Optimism's Superchain group of networks; transactions are executed on Lisk and the results are posted to Ethereum. Transaction fees on the network are paid in ETH. LSK, meanwhile, is used as a governance and ecosystem incentive token: token holders can take part in ecosystem decisions and join staking programs. The project says it focuses on supporting ventures in emerging markets such as Africa, Southeast Asia and Latin America.
The course of LSK may depend on application and user activity coming to the Lisk network, developments in the Superchain ecosystem, distributions from the ecosystem fund and competition with other layer-two networks. The price displayed on the Lisk page of Lzzo.com is calculated from the LSK/USDT pair on Binance and converted into US dollars at Coinbase Exchange's USDT/USD rate; the chart shows this series.
