What is Kava?
Kava is a layer-one blockchain developed with the Cosmos SDK and running on proof of stake. KAVA is the network's native coin. In its early years, the project focused on decentralized finance with collateralized borrowing and stablecoin products; later it moved to an architecture that emphasizes Ethereum compatibility.
Kava's co-chain architecture offers two separate execution environments within the same network: an EVM environment that works with Ethereum tools and Solidity contracts, and a Cosmos environment that connects with Cosmos chains via the IBC protocol. Assets can be transferred between these two environments. KAVA is used to pay transaction fees, to secure the network by being staked with validators and in on-chain governance votes. The network has also run reward programs to attract developers to the ecosystem.
KAVA's value may change depending on elements such as the applications and amount of locked assets on the network, staking yields and changes in inflation policy, the overall state of the Cosmos ecosystem and competition with rival EVM networks. On the Lzzo.com page, the Kava price comes from KAVA/USDT trading on Binance and is converted into dollars at the Coinbase Exchange USDT/USD rate; the chart tracks this series.
