Humanity Protocol is an identity verification project that aims to let a user prove they are a real and unique human without revealing their personal data. By combining decentralized identifiers (DIDs), verifiable credentials and zero-knowledge proofs, the project seeks to offer a solution to fake-account (sybil) attacks. H is the project's token issued on Ethereum.

According to the project's website, the goal is to let institutions run identity verification and fraud prevention processes without storing sensitive data in their own systems; a user can prove a piece of information once and reuse it across different services in the ecosystem. CoinGecko, for its part, publishes a notable warning for H: the project suffered an attack linked to the compromise of private keys, users were advised to stay away from bridges and liquidity pools, and the token was migrated to a new contract. The same entry also notes that the owner of the new contract can modify the code.
