What is Hedera (HBAR)?
Hedera is a public distributed ledger network that uses an event graph structure called hashgraph instead of a classic blockchain. The network is governed by the Hedera Council, which includes companies and institutions from different sectors; Google and IBM are among its members. HBAR is the native coin of Hedera.
In hashgraph, nodes spread transaction information to other randomly chosen nodes (gossip about gossip) and reach consensus through virtual voting, without sending separate messages. This approach offers asynchronous Byzantine fault tolerance and gives transactions a fair ordering and a timestamp. The network provides a token service, a consensus service that orders and logs messages, and an EVM-compatible smart contract service. HBAR is used to pay the fees for these services and is staked to network nodes under a proof of stake model to contribute to security.
The HBAR price may be affected by the development of actual use in corporate and public-sector projects, transaction volume on the network, token distributions from the treasury and regulatory developments. The price for Hedera on Lzzo.com is HBAR/USDT trading on Binance converted into dollars at Coinbase Exchange's USDT/USD rate; the chart shows this dollar-based history.
