Sonic

Sonic is a layer-one blockchain compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) that emerged from the rebrand of the Fantom Opera network. The network went into operation in December 2024. According to Sonic Labs' documentation, FTM holders can convert their tokens into S at a one-to-one ratio through the official upgrade portal; this conversion was two-way during the network's initial period and, after the transition window, became one-way, from FTM to S only. The conversion of FTM balances held on centralized exchanges is handled through the exchanges concerned.

The S token is the network's native asset; it is used to pay transaction fees, run validators, stake and take part in governance. Users who want to withdraw staked S are subject to a waiting period set out in the documentation, and stake delegated to a validator that behaves faultily or against the rules can be affected. The network offers the Fee Monetization program, which gives developers a share of the transaction fees their apps generate, and the Sonic Gateway bridge for transferring assets to and from Ethereum.

The value of S depends on application and transaction demand on the network, governance decisions providing for new token issuance, bridge and smart contract risks and general crypto market conditions. The Sonic price on Lzzo.com is taken from the S/USDT pair on Binance, converted into US dollars at Coinbase Exchange's USDT/USD rate and checked for identity against DefiLlama's reference price.
